As a non-professional (a DIYer), you could also consider having one Autel MD808 Pro although there are a bunch of other OBD tools much cheaper available in the market. Especially if you are a geek like me, or are interested in knowing more about your vehicles like how they run, or just want to have peace of mind when you drive or when you need to clear a code, I think this may be the ultimate tool for you.

I used Autel MD808 to do many tests, ranging from a 10-year-old Japanese car to a 1-year-old German car. It works like a charm! the 10-year-old car has no fault at all :) I also love the live data, which not only can be displayed as numbers but also GRAPHS! As a geek, I really love to see these curves, and I appreciate how much effort they put to make this work so beautifully.

There is no icon displayed for TMPS, you could find TMPS under "Diagnostic"=>"2 Control Unit"=>"13 TPMS". I was guided by the TMPS information to pump 4 tires of my vehicle to be exactly the same pressure. Couldn't be happier to have this Autel MD808 Pro tool.

5. Autel MD808 pro software update experience

Updates are a must. Make sure to create an Autel account so you can update your unit. Once you have an account you can download the "Maxi PC Suite". This allows you to update your software and Print content off the device.

My unit came pre-loaded with software version 1.0.
IMPORTANT: With version 1.0, I was unable to update via the included USB cord. I had to get a Micro SD Card reader and update the firmware to 1.5. When 1.5 installed I had a new option to update via USB.

Update 1.6 added additional USB support for newer computers and operating systems. I'm using Windows 10 and kept getting USB failures with the tool plugged in - more annoyance than anything else. After updating to 1.6 that issue has been resolved.

I updated to 1.6 on 10/01/2017.

6. Autel MD808 pro Printing function review:

Printing is helpful to "Print" to the included software (which enables this functionality). I have not, however, found a way to print graphical content. Thus far I've only been able to print text. Unfortunately that text comes out without much formatting.

Cons:

To be honest, I don't have a ton of time working with the tool. With that said, I'm still impressed. Here are some observations, however:

When asking it graph multiple sensors, it can get slow to change screens. For example, I had all 4 wheel sensors being graphed and had an approximate 5-8 second delay when switching from the text display to the graphing display. When merging the graphs onto one plot, it was another 5-8 second delay before the screen updated. Not a huge deal but at the time I didn't think it registered my button push. So... I pushed the button again. Thus when the screen updated to what I wanted it changed to the next screen in the sequence about 8 seconds later... It took a few repetitions before I caught on.

I hope this helps. I'll post additional observations in the future.

Best scanner I've ever had. It scanned 40 modules on my W220 Mercedes S-class. It can't do any changes, but can read absolutely anything.

This is a must tool if you have different cars and like to keep up on their performance. I am not a mechanic and have used this to diagnose issues on family vehicles: 3 Volvo and 1 VW. This works great on them all and let me know what is going on with the cars prior to sending them off to the shop.

Bought Autel MD802 to read SRS codes on 03 KIA optima, it deleted old codes with no issues. Also on 04 Explorer with door ajar chime going off continuously, it told me what door sensor was faulty, saving a lot of time.

I have used this on several different makes: Ford, Lexus, Acura, Nissan, Chevrolet and a few others. For the money this thing is amazing. Update was easy. Autel MD802 Elite reads a lot of information worth every penny.

Does exactly what it says it will do. Bought it primarily to check and reset air bag light on Volvo. It will read all engine and body codes as advertised.

I got this scanner for my garages and it was more than what I expected it has awesome quality in the screen and easy to use and works great on all vehicles I recommend this item for small garages or even huge dealerships.

I recommend this tool. Last week my 2007 BMW 335i overheated on the freeway. Rental trailer $60, Autel MD802 $300, water pump and thermostat $495, avoiding the dealership service department. Saved me well over $1000!

Great scanner works great for W204 and W212 Mercedes and displays all codes from the vehicle and the live data is a nice feature. Now I use this scanner for a long time and it is a great piece for my garage.

Very good scanner for whether you are Pro or DIY. I'm impressed with the quality and the ease of use. I showed it to my mechanic he thought he might purchase one also. He mentioned it analyzes some autos that professional analyzer won't do.

I used Actron scanners mostly before, but now I will be using Autel. I have mostly used it on GMs, the Autel MD802 access all the modules on the vehicle and bring me so much info that I could never see with my Actrons.

I will give it 4 out of 5 stars for a little slow because it does a complete array of scanning (transmission and body control modules, as well as ABS). I am using only about 50% of its capabilities, but I am satisfied.

Surprise! This scanner does pretty much everything the OTC does, you know OTC Genesys cost more than $3k. I would recommend this to anyone.

Full System, All System, Four System, what is it!!! I read the reviews online and bought one Maxidiag MD802. I've used it to scan and clear codes on a 99 Neon, to scan and collect live (driving down the road) data on 07 GMC Yukon, and attempt to scan 05 Chrysler Crossfire. The Crossfire is supposed to require equipment that only some authorized dealers have, but I got a basic scan. What the machine told me matched well with known information for the Neon and Yukon.

MD802 Update Procedure

Autel frequently releases software updates that you can download.

The Update feature makes it very easy to determine and get exactly what you need.

1. Install  Check-Elite PC Suit through the included CD, or download the applications in our website:  www.auteltech.com or our distributors’site www.vtoolshop.com.

2. Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.

3. Load the SD card of the scan tool to your PC.

4. Run the Autel MaxiDiag Elite MD802 update option in Check-Elite PC Suit software. Wait for the Log In window to pop up. (Figure 8.2)

5. Put in the user name and password and wait for the Check-Elite Update window to display.  If you forget your password unintentionally, you may  always click the [Forget your password?] to link to our website www.vtoolshop.com and find your password back.

6. In the Autel MaxiDiag Elite MD802 Update window, select the items you want to install.

Usually, you should install all available updates.

Generally, there are two ways to update Autel MaxiDiag Elite MD802 programs:

Batch updating
Select the programs that you would update by  clicking on the check boxes  next to those items.  Then click the Update Selected Items button on the right side of screen.
Or, click on the SELECT ALL checkbox on the right side of screen and all updatable items will be selected automatically.

Then click the Update Selected Items button on the right side of screen.

Check the updating process by observing the upper left progress bar [downloading] and upper right progress bar [installing]. You may also find progress information in the  Status column of updated items.

Anytime you could click the Pause button on the right side of screen to suspend all progresses, and  the state of those suspended items would change to STOPPED.

To resume updating process, you may need to select those 63 suspended items again, then click the  Update Selected Items button. The progress will resume from the break point.

When the downloading is completed, the downloaded programs will be installed automatically. The new version of Autel MaxiDiag Elite MD802 will replace the old version.

Single updating

Find the desired updating item and click the INSTALL button in the same line. With updating in progress, the INSTALL button changes to STOP.

Check the updating process by observing the upper left progress bar [downloading] and upper right progress bar [installing]. You may also find progress information in the  tus column of updated items.

Anytime you could click the Pause button in the line to suspend this progress, and the state of this item would change to STOPPED.

To resume updating process, click the INSTALL button in the line again. The progress will resume from the break point.

When the downloading is completed, the downloaded program will be installed automatically. The new version of Autel MaxiDiag Elite MD802 will replace the old version.
